I Know I Keep Saying This, But . . .

Taken together, I really feel like that quote and this picture more or less sum up precisely how (and why) I beat Depression even before I learned how -- not because of a boy or a book or my friends (awesome though you all are) or hope for the future. Because of ME. Because *I* was fed up with listening to him, and *I* wanted to make things better and be as awesome as my dad always knew I was. So I did. For myself.

The other day it occurred to me that I love taking pictures like this because they remind me of my favorite Robin McKinley quote (which pretty much sums up how I was able to kick Depression's ass even before I figured out how): "You are not consumed by the darkness because you are full of light."
